CogniVenue-Legal uses passwordless email sign-in. The same flow is used for first-time signup and later sign-in.

Sign in or sign up
- Open the hamburger menu.
- Select Subscription / Account.
- Enter the email address that should own the app license and Case allowance.
- Select Continue.
- Review the terms, privacy policy, and email preference screens.
- Enter the verification code sent to your email.
- After verification, the account screen shows your email, account type, and Case allowance.
Related topics: Create a Case, Backup and restore.
Why sign-in is required
Sign-in connects your verified email with:
- Case creation allowance.
- Account status.
- Subscription or lifetime activation state.
- Backup ownership checks.
- Restore ownership checks.
Your working documents and Case data remain local to the device unless you explicitly create a backup or use an account-related online action.
Verification code
After you enter your email, CogniVenue-Legal asks for a verification code. Enter the code exactly as received.
If the email verification code is not received, check the email account’s Spam or Junk folder. If it is not there, wait a few minutes and check the mailbox again.
If the code does not work:
- Check that the email address is typed correctly.
- Use the most recent code.
- Wait a short moment and try again.
- If the account server is unavailable, continue local work that does not require a verified account.
See Troubleshooting account issues.
Account overview
You can also open this screen by selecting the email/account row at the bottom of the hamburger drawer. When signed out, that row shows Not signed in and Verify your email.
The account overview shows:
- Signed-in email address.
- Account type.
- Email verification status.
- Case allowance used and available.
- Manage Case Allowance for free and paid accounts.
- Permanent unlimited Case access for lifetime-unlimited accounts; purchase and upgrade controls are hidden.
- Email Preferences.
- Lifetime activation, when available.
- Sign out.
- Delete Account.

Case allowance
Before creating a Case, CogniVenue-Legal checks whether your account can create another one.
Free account
- A free account has no time-bound trial period, expiry deadline, or time limit on access to existing work.
- A free account includes creation allowance for up to two Cases.
- A free account does not include creation of Global Library subheads.
- Existing Cases, Global Library material, and existing Global Library subheads remain available without a time-bound use limitation.
Additional allowance and Global Library subheads
After using the two free Case creation allowances, the first allowance purchase is the required 5-pack Case allowance. This first 5-pack provides additional Case creation allowance and enables unlimited Global Library subhead creation.
After purchasing the required first 5-pack, you can purchase additional Case creation allowance in packs of 1 or 5, depending on your requirement.
Paid accounts also have no time-bound access limitation for Cases, Global Library material, or Global Library subheads.
Messages by account type
- Free account shows the two-creation lifetime allowance, confirms that existing work does not expire, and explains when Global Library subhead creation becomes available.
- Paid account shows the total lifetime Case creation allowance and confirms that purchased creation allowance does not expire. The active base pack does not show an unmet-prerequisite message.
- Lifetime unlimited account shows permanent unlimited Case creation access and states that no purchase or upgrade is required. Purchase plans are not shown, even when the dialog was opened from a creation-limit check.
Allowance after deletion
Deleting a Case does not return or add to the Case creation allowance. A creation allowance is consumed when the Case is created, even if that Case is later deleted.
To delete a Case completely, first delete all documents, Canvas files, PenPad files, recordings, and other content inside it. You can then delete the empty Case through Delete Items.
If creation allowance remains, the Case creation dialog opens. If the allowance has been used, CogniVenue-Legal opens the account upgrade or allowance screen.

Staying signed in
On a trusted personal device, there is normally no need to Sign out after each use. Close CogniVenue-Legal normally and open it again when required; the verified account remains signed in by default.
A verified device session is created with a validity of up to 10 years. Successful authenticated account use renews that expiry to 10 years from the latest use. Verification may still be required earlier if you deliberately sign out, delete the account, clear the app’s local data, use another device, or if the session becomes invalid or is revoked for security reasons.
Use Sign out only when you intentionally want to remove the account session from this app installation—for example, before handing a shared device to someone else or when switching to a different account.
Sign out
Routine sign out is not required. When you intentionally need it, open the hamburger menu, select Subscription / Account, and choose Sign out. Sign out takes effect immediately and returns the Subscription / Account dialog to the email-verification flow.
Sign out:
- Clears the active session and cached account profile from this app installation.
- Does not delete the server account, verified email, paid or lifetime entitlement, Case allowance, or saved email preferences.
- Does not cancel or delete purchases.
- Does not delete or lock local Cases, documents, annotations, Canvas/PenPad files, recordings, exports, backups, Global Library material, or app settings.
- Does not remove local content from view; you can continue using existing local work where sign-in is not required.
Account-required actions—such as account refresh, purchasing allowance, account-owned backup or restore, and changing email preferences—require verification again. Use the same email address to sign back in and reload that account’s server-held status and preferences.
To remove local content, use Delete Items. To permanently remove the server account, use Delete Account; signing out alone does not do that.
Delete Account
Use Delete Account from the account overview only when you want to permanently remove the verified account and its related information from CogniVenue-Legal servers.
Before continuing, create any required backup, check that you can still access the verified email, and read the local-data and retained-allowance consequences below. Account deletion requires an active signed-in session and a connection to the account service.
- Select Delete Account.
- Read the deletion summary carefully.
- Type I want to delete my account and related info/data in the confirmation box. Letter case does not matter, but the wording must otherwise match.
- Select Continue.
- At Final Confirmation, select Yes, Delete Account to proceed or No, Keep Account to cancel.
Deleting the account removes server-side account information, including the email identity, active sessions, email preferences, entitlement and Case-creation history, feedback, activation requests, and related purchase records.
Account deletion does not delete or lock the local workspace on the current device. Existing Cases, documents, annotations, Canvas/PenPad work, recordings, exports, local backups, downloaded files, and existing Global Library subheads remain usable.
If you want to remove local data too, manually delete local app data, local backups, exported files, downloaded documents, recordings, and any device or operating-system backups that may contain them. Server-side deletion cannot remove files stored on your device or other storage locations you control.
CogniVenue-Legal retains the Case creation allowance and the number already used on the current app installation. New Cases can be created until that retained allowance is exhausted. Verifying another email on the same installation does not provide another two free Case creations or reset the number already used. If the newly verified account has a genuinely higher paid allowance, the higher ceiling can be used, but allowances are not added together or counted twice.
New Global Library subheads cannot be created after an account has been deleted on the current installation, even if another email is later verified. Existing subheads and their contents remain available.
The retained allowance is local to this device. It cannot be recovered on another device or after removing the app’s local data because the server account no longer exists. Online account actions, purchase refresh, and account-verified backup or restore require a newly verified account.
If either confirmation is cancelled, the account is kept. If the server cannot complete deletion, the dialog shows an error and the account remains signed in; resolve the connection or account-service problem before trying again.

Email preferences
Email marketing choices are optional and are off unless you actively select them. They are separate from acceptance of the Terms and Privacy Policy and do not affect local Case data, document processing, OCR, Canvas/PenPad, or local AI behavior.
During email verification, the Product updates and offers step provides two independent choices:
- Send me marketing emails and tips for efficient app use.
- Email me offers and launch discounts.
Select either option and choose Next, or leave both clear and choose Skip. You can change the same choices later.
Change marketing email choices later
- Open the hamburger menu.
- Select Subscription / Account.
- Select Email Preferences in the account overview.
- Turn Marketing emails and usage tips or Offers and launch discounts on or off independently.
- Wait for Email preferences saved before closing the dialog.
The account service records the opt-in or decline state and its timestamp so the consent history is clear. Turning off both marketing options unsubscribes the account from those optional categories. Important account, payment, security, legal, and service notices are not marketing messages and may still be sent when necessary.
Changing preferences requires a verified, signed-in account and an internet connection. If saving fails, the status area shows the account-service error; check the connection and try the switch again. Signing out does not erase the server-held choices. Deleting the account removes its email preferences and consent history as described in Delete Account.
Feedback
Use Feedback in the hamburger menu to send a suggestion, bug report, idea, question, or other comment to the CogniVenue-Legal account service.
- Sign in to the account and make sure the device is online.
- Open the hamburger menu and select Feedback.
- Choose a Category: Suggestion, Bug, Idea, Question, or Other.
- Enter a meaningful description in Message. An empty message cannot be sent.
- Optionally enable Include diagnostics. This adds the app version and platform details; it does not attach your documents or Case content.
- Select Send feedback and wait for Feedback sent. Thank you. The dialog closes shortly after a successful send.
If sending fails, the dialog keeps the message and shows the account-service error so you can correct the problem or try again. Include what you expected, what happened, and the steps that reproduce the issue; for a bug, mention the document type and workspace mode when relevant, without including confidential source text.
Submitted feedback is associated with the account. Delete Account removes related server-held feedback as part of the account-deletion process.
